Numerical Simulation and Experimental Investigation on 2205 Duplex Stainless Steel K-TIG Welded Joint

In this paper, 8 mm thickness 2205 duplex stainless steel (DSS) plates were successfully welded using keyhole tungsten inert gas welding (K-TIG) welding, and numerical simulations performed applying the finite element method. Three models of combined heat source adopted to verify accuracy experiment. The process under different speeds simulated, temperature field, molten pool shape, thermal cycle curve calculated. simulation results show that a model consisting ellipsoid conical is more suitable for K-TIG welding. microstructure analysis joint showed when speed was increased from 280 mm/min 340 mm/min, austenite content ferrite grain size decreased. evolution laws morphologies, sizes conditions consistent with simulated field distributions curves. It proved kind method can effectively simulate ensure quality, which guide industrial applications.
